Guru Purnima - Its Significance In Present Time
Today is Guru Purnima. Salutations to all Gurus.
Guru - who helps the disciple/children to eliminate ignorance and bring wisdom in life.
For a child, who can be the most respected, lovable Guru than his/her own Father and Mother?
A child learns to walk by catching their parent’s finger and stand in life.
The recent NEET protest, which was supposed to be a peaceful protest for the justice of students, turned out to be a display of vulgar, abusive language and filthy body gestures by very young girls and boys against the respected PM Modiji.
All these Gen Z, especially girls at that protest site, seemed to be from wealthy families, nicely dressed with high-end handsets, etc.
Though it's a very small population of Indian Gen Z; but it’s an alarming call for parents, as no parents would like to see their children in that avatar.
These Gen Z had choice to follow Gen Z like Pawan Kumar Chandana of Skyroot Aerospace too, they did not.
What could be the reason?
Parents are busy day and night earning for living. They are busy providing high-end education to their child, and in most cases, parents make sure their loved one’s all wishes get fulfilled.
The only condition is to let the child study well, secure good scores in exams, and get into a good job to settle life - ultimate goal in life.
Child education is outsourced to coaching centers and educational institutes which talk only about marks and marks - only aim a high packaged job.
No coaching centers or educational institutes focus on a child’s character building.
Modern-day parents are so busy that they can’t give enough time to their child.
The void of day-to-day heart connection, daily communication, is replaced by social media engagement via modern gadgets like smartphones. We all have our own dark corner at home with a phone in hand.
The child follows.
The child’s brain and behavior soon get shaped by social media influencers. A character starts building inside far from the eyes of parents.
Sometimes the result is very devastating, as we see the display in the recent NEET protest.
Result: MORAL DECAY!!!
Wealth lost can be gained again. But -
CHARACTER LOST - EVERYTHING IS LOST.
My recent discussion with a few young stars of the 18 - 23 age group reveals that most families lack healthy connection and communication time together between parents and children.
It’s high time we, parents, shed the role of supplier and become real guides- Gurus- to their own children.
As social media information explodes, no subject is taboo now.
Parents should be ready and start engaging with their own children on each topic they are interested in -
